VERTIGO AND CHIROPRACTIC CARE – CAN IT HELP?
Vertigo refers to a spinning sensation or dizziness, even though you are not moving. There are two main factors that may contribute to symptoms of vertigo:
- a dysfunction in the brain and sensory nerve pathway, or
- an imbalance in the internal organs of the ear that control balance.
The term peripheral vertigo is used to describe inner ear causes whereas central vertigo describes central nervous system causes.
Is the world spinning, and you don’t know why? Scientific American MIND editor Ingrid Wickelgren explains how your inner ear can make you dizzy – watch now.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR?
No. In Australia chiropractors are five year trained primary healthcare practitioners. You do not need a referral from a GP. Chiropractors and other manual therapists may help incases of vertigo.
