Vertigo and Chiropractic Care - can it help?
Vertigo refers to a spinning sensation or dizziness, even though you are not moving. There are two main factors that may contribute to symptoms of vertigo:

Vertigo Case Series
The following case series from the Journal of Manipulative & Physiological Therapeutics looked at the management of benign paroxysmal position vertigo in a chiropractic clinical setting. Eight patients with this type of vertigo presented for chiropractic care.
The study was able to make the following statement:
- "INTERVENTION AND OUTCOME: The patients underwent one or more canalith repositioning procedures (Epley maneuver). Scores in each of the categories decreased from the initial to 6-day assessment and then again at the 30-day assessment. The effects of the treatment on the Short Form 12 scores showed changes between the initial assessment and 30 days post treatment."
The study was able to come to the following conclusion:
- "CONCLUSION: The patients in this case series demonstrated reduction in symptoms with chiropractic management."
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No. In Australia chiropractors are five year trained primary healthcare practitioners. You do not need a referral from a GP. Chiropractors and other manual therapists may help incases of vertigo.
